China Releases Indian National, Others Held On 'Terror Link'
China releases Indian national, others held Indian tourist Rajiv Mohan Kulshrestha who had been detained in northern China since July 10 has been released by China and left for India from Beijing in the early hours of Saturday, the Indian Embassy in Beijing told India Today. Kulshrestha, who along with 19 British and South African nationals was on a 47-day tour of China had been accused by Chinese officials of watching a video "about terrorism", was brought to Beijing on Friday evening after Indian officials had been given consular access in Ordos, in Inner Mongolia. Kulshrestha was among the last group of the 20 to be released. While 14 of the travellers had been released earlier this week on Wednesday and Thursday, Kulshrestha and five South African nationals were released only on Friday. The Indian tourist left for India on a flight early on Saturday, Embassy officials said.
