NASA Debuts on Tumblr, Promises 'Regular Dose of Space'

WASHINGTON:  In a bid to expand its reach on various social media platforms, NASA has launched its official account on Tumblr that will give users a "regular dose of space" in a blog-like format through text, photos, videos and more.

The inaugural post showcases the incredible image of the "dark side" of the Moon with Earth in the background.

The NASA Tumblr profile will share information, images and video about the agency's missions of exploration and discovery, the US space agency said in a statement.

The main account will share images and video of NASA's work while two of the other new pages will focus on specific missions.

One page will be dedicated for the Mars Curiosity rover's updates.

Another page will follow astronaut Peggy Wilson as she trains for a six-month mission on the International Space Station (ISS).

Tumblr is a social media platform that allows users to connect and follow other content creators in a collaborative micro-blog format.

People are able to discover, share and create content that expresses their personality, hobbies and interests.

NASA recently went on photo-sharing website Instagram to release first photos from the historic Pluto fly-by of its New Horizons spacecraft.
